There is no problem with blogger or word press. Both are very powerful platform to create your blog. You can use any platform. But, you have to focus on certain SEO methods and tactics to get it done. You can change your HTML from word press source code.
Try to create more accurate Title with your blog.
Try to market in front of needy people.
Try to use such social media websites like Twitter, Facebook & many similar.
Content changes on blog make sense about your blog.
So, try to update your blog on weekly or weekly/ 2 basis. It will very important factor to make your blog popular.

Both platforms are great. Besides that you should put your skills on creating relevant web page by keeping in mind the proper title and meta tags along with the main contents.
For gaining more visitors you need to spread the word about your blog so that more and more people know about it. You can try different ways to achieve this.

I prefer WordPress over blogger….. But I do not see any SEO advance just for the name of blogger.
