1. Set up your blog. You can have the option of using their URL (e.g. http://widgetsblog.blogger.com) or use the blog software in your own domain name (http://www.widgetsblog.com). Some of these are free, while some has monthly/annual subscription
Here are some places that will allow you to create your own blog
2. Create great content. Everything starts with content. Give a reason why visitors will frequent your site. Why will they want to read your blog? Why will they want to spend their time in your blog? Provide value, useful information and other benefits to the readers.
3. Get traffic to your blog. You can’t earn from your blog if the blog does not have traffic. Getting traffic is going to be your biggest challenge.
4. Think of how to monetize your blog. One of the most common way of earning money from blogs is through advertising and donations. Here are some ways you can earn money from your blog:

Chitika eMinimalls http://www.chitika.com
Text link ads – you can sell for fixed price for a fixed period of time
Donation (yes, you can beg)
Affiliate programs such as Commission Junction http://www.cj.com and the Amazon Associates program
Many make the mistake of believing that once they create a blog, people will immediately flock to it. There are millions out there so why would they visit your blog? The only way you can earn money from your blog is if you write great content that will get people interested to visit your blog. The more traffic your blog has, the more income it can generate
I recommend looking into Rosalind Gardner’s book “Super Affiliate Handbook”. She walks you through setting up a blog and getting the income stream going. First I would go look at successful money making blogs such as johnchow.com, stevepavlina.com or problogger.com
The go to 45n5.com they have a list of the 100 top money blogs. Another great resource is technorati.com and look at the top 100.
Johnchow.com offers a free report on how to make money blogging. You can download it at his site. Or you can go to yaro starack’s becomeablogger.com he has some excellent video tutorials and a fine report entitled Blog Profits Blueprint. These should get you started.
If you want to make money you have to be serious and committed. It takes a lot of work and dedication. You will need a domain name and web hosting. The domain name should reflect what niche you are interested in blogging about.
You will have to have a schedule for posting and stick to it. You will have to be active in the blogosphere by reading and posting comments on other blogs, in forums and with articles.
You will also need to be patient. It is not a get rich quick scheme. It is a business and it must be built. Build your content, build your reputation, build your readership. Once you have traffic coming to your blog you can then monetize in several different ways.
