Where can I find freelance illustration work?

I just graduated with a BFA and I want to start doing some freelance work.
I have an online portfolio and everything ready to go.

Lots of Illustration work, like many other kinds of freelance jobs, are based on who you know. You need to get your name out there in the correct circles. How? Use your natural social networks, Your church, any organization you belong to such as pet rescue or whatever. These are places you might volunteer your services. Why do this? The idea is to get your work out there, and in front of people who might be able to hire you later on. Your fellow volunteer might be a graphic designer, or work for a design firm that could use your services.
As you do more freelance work, it will become easier, as your name will start circulating among other pros in the field. As they move around, they will call on you, and you will get more work.
