Want to live in Japan? Here's how I do it: www.locationfreelifestyle.com Lots of people have been asking about other ways to live & work in Japan. Rather than getting a job in Japan one very easy way is to have a "Location Free Lifestyle." I do this and it allows me to spend half of the year travelling to different places in Japan. Don't worry, it's a lot easier to do than it sounds! You simply make money online and choose to live where you like, which of course could be any part of Japan for a couple of months or years. After all any job that uses a computer can basically be done from anywhere you have the internet. I know because I've been living this lifestyle for the past 10 years! So I've just set up a new site at http where I go through some of the locations I've lived (Italy, Portugal, Japan, this week Singapore!) and how you too can make a living online and live where you choose. Very often it ends up even cheaper than living back home! You're never too young to start, and you're never too old to try. We all have a golden opportunity right now to choose where we want to live, throw out the 9 to 5 and the horrible commutes and work and live where we really want to be. You are an inspiration, my friend. I’ve wanted to live in Japan for a few years now, but I always saw it as an unreachable feat. I started taking japanese lessons in college and whatever I could put my hands on, but I’m not very confident yet. I know I can do it, since I already learned english, and spanish is my first language. Do you have any info on wether spanish teachers are popular over in Japan? Thank you for your videos ^w^

One other thing that I think is going to be huge is the new way of sharing projects in Ableton Live 8. Meet up with some like minded Japanese artists and make tunes together over the net. Then you might be able to pop over for some live gigs!

First gig, gig, gig and gig some more gigs back home. Write the total best songs you can and just play them for anyone, anywhere. Get yourself on myspace, every gig on Youtube and get the songs on itunes by sending a CD to CDBaby.
Then move to job, probably a teaching job or something would be best in Japan, then gig, gig, gig over here!
I had a band in Japan and it was great. You have instant exotic appeal. And look at Monkey Majik, they’re huge!
But make sure you’re really good!

hello, i wanted to start a band in japan but i have no idea how to even start. no one here really likes j-rock where i live and i really am very passionate about forming or joining a j-rock band. do you have any advice on how i can make this dream come true from all the way in america to japan? i’m trying to find ways to move to japan, but i keep on running into hurtles. do you have any advice?

1. Get an internet showcase to show off your your best work.
2. A Youtube channel is the best way!
3. Put up tons of videos of all your best material.
4. Get a memorable net address that points to your Youtube channel.
5. Give this address out to EVERYONE you meet.
6. Put it on business cards, at conferences, trade fairs, at the end of emails, at the end of forum posts or blog comments where you give out really useful info etc.

Some great advice! I’m co-owner of a web dev firm and about 5 years ago we shut down our office and started working from home. It’s great. You have to be motivated though. It’s easy to slack off when working from home.
I’ll see you in Japan in about 5 months.. yee haw!!

It’s not “easy” at all, you still have to work hard and work smart, but you cut out all the commuting, office politics and time wasting things which frees up a lot of time. Then on your time off you get to enjoy a new location!
It’s just a case of where you’d prefer to live and work. In an office cubicle back home or on a laptop somewhere else?

if i could really do this i would, and so would my soon to be husband. We are the biggest fans of japan and i dream of living there. I just dont know, it seems way to easy to do this. And if it’s too good to be true it usually is. What things are out there to do with this online living thing in japan???
