Jane Austen is one of the greatest masters of English, and Pride and Prejudice is her great masterpiece, a sharp and witty comedy / t play in the early 19th century English society, a world in which men held virtually all power and women are required to negotiate mine fields of social status, respect, wealth, love and sex to marry both their taste and their families. And this is a special case of the Bennetts, a family where the father of daughters property associated with distant relatives, that after the death of Mr Bennett will lose their homes, land, income, everything. But the Bennett daughters up to play the winning hand in this high stakes matrimonial game without losing your personal integrity?

this battle sexes is largely seen through the eyes of second daughter Elizabeth, who has a razor sharp intelligence, and rich sense of humor – and that has hampered his own mother addlepated, hopeless love for his sister Jane wealthy Mr. Bingley and his sister’s tendency to Lydia for scandal. . . not to mention the high-born, terrible and cruel pride Mr. Darcy, who seems determined to trump her every card. But in the game of love proves more surprising than any Elizabeth or Mr. Darcy can imagine, and sometimes seems to have a low winning hand when all cards are on the table.

Pride and Prejudice is just one of the funniest novels ever written, populated with memorable characters brought vividly to life as they do not succeed in the game of life by way of their age. This is a novel that will come again and again, enjoying the brilliant talent of Austin. I have little respect for people described him as a dull, slow, expire, so long as men and women live and love he will never go out of fashion, we always, always be funny. A masterpiece of wit and style, a timeless novel for the ages.

Most of these reviews seems to have been selected from various versions of the actual Pride and Prejudice, but note that this particular version is the version of the children, not really a book for readers between the ages of 12.9 and only 48 pages. Amazon should make it clearer.

It does not get better than Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic, or just love the classics, you’re going to love this book. Although I am only sixteen, I consider myself fairly well read. I love to read and when I’m between books, my life feels desolate and empty. One day, in the most barren pit of boredom, I took Pride and Prejudice “on my mother’s suggestion. I’m not normally like the taste of his mother in reading, favorite books tend to be very dull, but so deep was bored my proposal, I die. It is not unhappy with what I found. I fell in love at first sentence of the book. I went to my beloved book to the table and bench late in the night. I love everything about it. I love the characters ; especially Elizabeth Bennet, I love Victorian vernavular, which works very well for this book. I love the scintillating plot and the tension has to know that Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy should be together but their pride and prejudice (hence the title) are temporarily on hold them apart. The language novel was written might be a little harder to read than contemporary literature, but one gets used to it, makes it a new peaceful. I can not imagine Elizabeth and Darcy and Bingley or any of the other characters talk less eloquent, he will ruin the whole experience! In flower language, ending all effects of reading Jane Austen novel. If a disgruntled female reader even Pride and Prejudice, pick it up again! Highly suggest it because it can be annoying at first but if read again, would probably read more easily. I can not offer suggestions for male reader, however, because generally this book sometime in essence, is a female novel. I’m not saying that people will definitely enjoy it, I’m just saying that I have yet to meet some person who has reviewed this book in a very strong way. I just love this book as a whole, and I know I will not be too long before you select it again. Jane Austen surely knew what when she wrote this! her Pride and Prejudice will always have a place of honor bookshelf.

This special book is wonderfully illustrated. I have three books P & P and this is the most valuable of all. Not only for themselves is a wonderful novel to read, but the pictures are beautiful to watch. This is the perfect gift for someone who has a mild version of P & P. The book is more than just history. You will agree when you open this book.

I always loved the style and social policies for the period of Regency (Jane Austin time.) But when I read “Sense and Sensibility” in 7th grade I found the first chapters lifeless, dull and difficult to read. Two years later, I was encouraged by friends “Pride and Prejudice” a try. I did and has since become a full Janeite. Now I am able to read through joy “Sense and Sensibility” with a new understanding and appreciation of Jane Austen. The reason? “Pride and Prejudice” is fresh, funny and a great introduction to the writing style of Jane Austen is without the formality of some of his other novels (unlike SS & Austin and persuasion do not give us 10 pages in the history of each family and their status.) If you have read not Jane Austen or have read other novels, and make them boring, read “Pride and Prejudice. Characters and situations Austen presents to them are hyster iCal and reveal a lot about Regency society and morality. This book compliments perfectly great writer like Jane Austen and essential for any reader of the library. The Penguin book is stellar and I personally recommend not only for in-depth and indispensable footnotes, but for coverage, without providing any of the appearances of nature. In short: “Pride and Prejudice is a great book for beginners and experienced readers of Austen fans, and Penguin Classics is a great edition for fully enjoying and understanding the book.
