Blogging for Money?

One Thing I Do Not Get About Blogging
By Jeff Schuman

I read somewhere that a new blog is started every second somewhere in the world. Who really has any idea how many blog posts are made every day!

I think there is probably conflicting statistics about blogging anyway. However there is one thing that I really do not understand and that is why do people start blogs and abandon them so quickly?

There certainly is a trend towards social networking today. Twitter for example is micro blogging.

These are short blog posts of 140 characters or less known as tweets. You can’t do a lot with them yet there was so much action when Michael Jackson died it brought the Twitter system down.

Facebook has millions of members and is an extremely active social networking site. It almost becomes the focal point of some people’s lives because they take it too seriously.

Back to the question about blogging however and that is why are blogs started and dropped so quickly? One possible answer is not everyone is on the computer all the time. It does take a little bit of effort to login to your blog and post an article of a couple hundred words.

Some people start a blog with the idea that they are going to turn it into an Internet business. When they find out how much work that is they decide to stop it.

Some people are busy! They may not even be aware that they can hire a blog writer to write content for their blogs. They also may not be aware of how to keep their blog up to date with various content feeds.

Certainly if you are going to start a blog you need to take the time to keep adding fresh content to it. This is especially true if you’re trying to make money with your blog. Search engines love fresh content and so do your readers.

I know when some people look at how good their competitors blogs are it discourages them. There are so many social media tools available now to make a blog really exciting you need to step up and use some of them if you want to be noticed.

Certainly videos add a lot to a blog. Many bloggers are not aware they can go to You Tube and use the videos there on their own blog. They think they need to develop videos of their own and that certainly seems like a lot of work so they do not even try.

So for whatever reason people start and stop blogs and this has happened right now as I have been writing this article. Hopefully you will stay committed to your blog and get out of it what you started it for.

A recent survey found that USA has more ‘pro-bloggers’ than software professionals or lawyers, this number is bound to increase in these bad financial times, no wonder twitter and blogs are becoming increasingly popular. Many bloggers are discouraged from blogging after some time because the don’t see adequate returns. According to me they should opt for guest blogging, tagging, list posting etc. to keep writer’s block away.

Good suggestions Jim. Put in a dose of persistence and you have good recipe for success!
