6 Ways to Get That First Affiliate Marketing Check

There are Commandos, Black Hats, Big Dogs, Guerrillas, Boot Camps, Underground strategies, Assassins and people who want to sell you something that will annihilate the opposition, kill the competition.
For newbies to Internet Marketing it looks like you’re getting ready to be shipped out to Afghanistan rather than sitting down at your computer and making a couple of thousands pounds/dollars/euros or whatever a month.
The big hitters fail to realize that for the majority of people, that amount is a fortune, they seem to think we all want to be multi-millionaires and have unlimited cash to make that dream come true. When really most of the people who try affiliate marketing or even eBay are doing so, because it’s a less expensive way to kick off their new business.
But have you noticed that once you link up with a product, your inbox receives an avalanche of “you can’t miss out on this” offers, because if you do you all your competitors are going to stuff your attempts at making any cash.
For the newbie this is the start of information overload.
They’re so busy trying to read all the bonuses to make any money. I recently saw one that had 75 hours of training videos. 75 hours!!!!
Life’s just too short, it looks great as a free bonus, but tell me who’s going to sit for 75 hours and watch those.
So here’s my advice for newbies if they want to get that first affiliate check from ClickBank or where ever. And by the way when the first check appears, you will be hooked!
1. Find yourself a mentor there are lots of people out there who have made the big money who are now training students. they’ll take you step by step and many have forums where fellow students help out if you’re having a problem.
2. Don’t get hung up over the technology.
In affiliate marketing, you don’t need to know how to build a website, write a sales letter or even organize the taking of cash or posting out the product.
For instance on ClickBank, there are thousands of products offering you up to 75 per commission, they all come complete with a sales page, the product is downloaded by the customer and every fortnight a check is sent out.
A word of warning though, if you live outside the US prepare to pay hefty bank charges because for some reason ClickBank still pay in US Dollars. So if you get a $100 check and want to pay it into say a UK bank, you’ll pay up to £10 in charges.
When is ClickBank going to pay affiliates in their own currency through say Paypal?
3. To begin with decide what you want to earn from your online business.
And make it achievable!
No point going for $30k a month, that simply isn’t going to happen.
Lets say its $1000 and you like the look of a product that will give you $25 commission on each sale.
Now a $1000 seems a huge amount to raise over 30 days.
But the secret affiliate weapon for success is to break that total down.
So we know we have to make 40 sales at $25 to make our $1000..so we need to sell at least one product a day.
Breaking goals down to realistic chunks makes them so much more achievable.
4. Focus on marketing that one product until you are achieving your goal of $1000..then add another product, but this time look for a higher commission.
Marketing. Ah well that’s another area we could talk about until the cows come home.
There are various ways of doing it from Pay Per Click and Google AdWords. You can try using US FreeAds, writing articles like this, putting up a blog or recording your own video for YouTube.
And lets not forget Twitter and a hundred and one social network sites.
5. The next secret affiliate weapon in your armoury is to be consistent in whatever area you chose.
Forget about sitting down in front of your favorite soap, get online and write that article, prepare that ad or email. So something didn’t work, learn from it, move on and try again.
But do something, if you don’t take action what’s going to be the result?
Forget about getting rich overnight, concentrate on doing something, not matter how small, everyday to push the business forward.
6. If you’re focused, and consistent it’s because you’ve picked out the other secret affiliate weapon and that’s commitment.
You don’t just need a goal of say $1000 a month, you want to focus on the real reason behind that goal.
Visualize it, touch it, it smell it.
It maybe the payment on a dream car, one installment on a once-in-a-life time round the world trip or even something as simple as allowing you more time with family and friends or to pursue your favorite hobby, buy the latest camera or fishing rod.
Whatever it is, being committed is a major factor in bringing you nearer your goal.
I know I had a go at the military sounding names used by many of the big hitters but I believe if you use the secret affiliate weapons of focus, consistency and commitment then you’ll be successful.
Remember there are millions of people who dream of being financially successful. But there are only a chosen few who wake up and make it happen.
