A Systematic Start of An Online Business

Starting an Online Internet Business – Where to Begin?
By Esther Lesperance

The Self Examination Stage for Best Fit

Gathering information about online business opportunities should be addressed in a very systematic manner. Ask yourself questions like what is it I like to do best? What will keep my interest and enthusiasm over the long run? Do I like dealing with people or am I happier in my office working alone.

A website selling products, either your own or someone else’s, like in dropshipping, requires customer service. Internet jobs like typing other peoples written words or writing articles for other people, on the other hand can be done totally without client contact other than your initial client.

The Information Gathering Stage

The information you need to gather will be greatly reduced by having completed the self examination stage. Once you know where you wish to focus your efforts you need only research that particular niche. Lets use dropship marketing as an example. It is really only in it’s infancy. This is the way of the future, where large corporation, can store their merchandise in large warehouses, and have independent marketers sell these items for them.

Just take the growth of Doba, a dropshipper as an example. It represents 1000′s of different independent companies who all sell their products through venues like eBay or Amazon facilitated by individuals, working from their own home, who sell products they have never even seen. If this is where your interest lies than gather information about only this one area. A very good place to begin this research is eBay or Amazon. They have excellent articles and tutorials that walk you through the entire process. Another place to gain knowledge for this particular type of internet marketing is to contact dropshipping companies.

The Learning Stage

Once you have decided on your game plan, learn everything you’ll need in that specific area. The internet is choc-a-bloc loaded with information. Sorting through, all this information can be overwhelming. Take it one baby step at a time, but do it. You will learn as you proceed and adjust your actions accordingly. My advice is to learn it on your own. DO NOT get sucked into any mentoring programs until you are very sure of what they offer. Most of these programs offer very good information, but you can gather this on your own. It’s all on the internet.

When programs advertise that they have secrets that only they can teach you be vary. Not many people have any original ideas or insider trade secrets. If you do decide you would like to join a mentoring program make sure it is one where you only pay monthly, no large up front payment. If the program is not working for you, just cancel and you won’t be out the large initial fee some of these programs charge.

The Implementation Stage

Now, like Nike says, just do it! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. We all do. It is part and parcel of this life here on earth. The only real mistake is the one we don’t learn from. Go about this internet business like a child who pushes every electronic button they see. Have any of these kids done damage to themselves by this dary do attitude. Oh contrare, they simply learn very quickly, what takes us older folks a little longer.
